  • Classes are led by experienced and certified teachers.
  • Staff members are CPR and First Aid trained.
  • Each child receives daily a nutritious hot breakfast, lunch and snack.
  • Teacher to child ratios are kept low so that each child is given the attention needed.
  • Developmental screenings are provided to all children twice a year.
  • Safe, secure and nurturing environment for your child to excel and grow.
  • Teachers are nurturing and responsive to your child’s needs.

Curriculum

Curriculum affects all aspects of a program: overall quality, parents’ perceptions, and the outcomes and benefits of the program for individual children.

Scottdale incorporates evidence-based practices and national standards from the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and the Creative curriculum. The Creative curriculum guides teachers as they work and care for children and adapt to the special needs and conditions of each group. We use research-based learning strategies that integrate all aspects of child development and emphasize adult-child interaction, a carefully designed learning environment, and a plan-do-review process that strengthens initiative and self-reliance.

Research shows that children experience greater success in school when parents are involved in their children’s education. At Scottdale, we believe that parent involvement and an open communication policy are key components of an early care and education program.

We encourage parents to become an active participant in the operations of the center. There are many volunteer opportunities available. Parents are welcome to come read to the children, assist in the classrooms, supervise playtime and chaperone fieldtrips.

Resources and Referral

To help families in the community be stable, healthy and self-sufficient, Scottdale provides resources and referrals to social and community services, and parent education on topics such as parenting, nutrition and school readiness.
